Aegis Ambulance Service, Inc. began operation in late 1997 with the goal of providing the best inter-facility Basic Life Ambulance transportation available. The principals of Aegis Ambulance Service, Inc. have each worked in the healthcare industry for over twenty years and exclusively in the ambulance business since 1994.

As healthcare changed and became more impersonal, we perceived the need for a company that provided prompt, courteous, professional, and personal service dedicated exclusively to the inter-facility patient market. Aegis Ambulance Service, Inc. was created to fulfill that need.
As an independent provider of services, Aegis Ambulance Service, Inc. has designed all of its systems to specifically meet it’s primary objective of inter-facility patient transport.

By focusing exclusively on this market segment, Aegis Ambulance Service, Inc. is able to direct all training efforts on the skills required for the transport of the inter-facility patient.

These skills include increased communication with the patient, a high degree of gentleness and caring, and treating the patient with dignity and respect. The skill and care required for these patients is often lacking in EMT’s with a dual focus of inter-facility and “911” transports.
We do not claim to have the most ambulances or the biggest coverage area.

We don’t claim to be nationwide.

We do claim to have first class service and friendly, caring EMT’s. Attention to the individual needs of our customers. Hassle free calls for transport.

We don’t do it bigger; We do it better.

Basic Life Support (BLS) ambulance services are available 24 hours per day, 7 days a week.

Each BLS unit is staffed by two licensed Emergency Medical Technicians and stocked with medical supplies and equipment necessary to administer first aid and basic medical treatment.  At the scene or while transporting the patient in the ambulance, the crews perform BLS services that include vital sign assessment, basic airway management, hemorrhage control, stabilization of fractures, and patient monitoring.

Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT’s) must be state certified to transport patients and to perform emergency care services.  Certification as an EMT requires completion of at least 140 hours of training in a program designed by the United States Department of Transportation and supervised by state authorities.

Local physician advisory boards develop medical protocols for EMT’s.  Both Los Angeles and Orange counties have established protocols for patient treatment during transportation.  EMT’s are required to complete state supervised examinations to maintain their certification.

Aegis Ambulance Service, Inc. provides in house training to all Emergency Medical Technicians.  Upon hire, each EMT completes two days of classroom instruction that includes Los Angeles County regulations, company policies and procedures, equipment review, patient assessment and paperwork completion.

The classroom training is followed by three to five days riding with an experienced training crew that continues the training in a field setting.  Only after the training crew signs off on the employee’s readiness is the EMT assigned a shift.

The California Highway Patrol is the licensing agency for ambulance companies.  In some cases, individual municipalities may require additional licensure.  Aegis Ambulance Service, Inc. meets all regulatory requirements needed to transport patients in our service area.

Basic Life Support (BLS) ambulance services are available 24 hours per day, 7 days a week. Ambulances are dispatched via a sophisticated Computer Aided Dispatch System (CAD) that helps designate, dispatch, and track the most appropriate unit for each call. Each Ambulance is also equipped with an advanced two-way radio system to enable immediate communication.

Aegis Ambulance Service, Inc. also utilizes a Global Positioning Satellite (GPS) System to track and direct our fleet. Portal to portal directions are available to each vehicle through dashboard mounted Message Display Terminals.
