The responsibilities of the Dispatcher are to take calls for transports, schedule, and dispatch ambulances accordingly. The Dispatcher is also responsible for maintaining radio communication with all BLS ambulances to assure that appointments will be kept and that EMS coverage is always maintained. The Dispatcher should know the status of all units. The Dispatcher is responsible for completing computer based documentation and should be familiar with basic computer applications. Dispatchers maintain operations by following policies and procedures and report issues that require correction. Activity is documented by completing forms, reports, logs, and records. Position Requirements: All prospective Dispatchers must possess a high school diploma or it’s equivalent. Previous dispatch experience is preferred, but not required. Computer skills preferred.

Responsibilities include answering phones and responding to customers, communicating with physician’s offices, data entry, filing Medicare, Medicaid, and Private Insurance claims using both HCFA 1500’s and electronic filing, responding to insurance denials of service, collections, probate filing, preparing and sending invoices, preparing and sending Certificated of Medical Necessity to physicians, and other office duties as required.
